Microflow UHPLC: Advantages and Opportunities

Eksigent, part of AB SCIEX, has been developing Nanoflow and Microflow LC systems that combine advances in gradient delivery, sample injection, and optical detection to deliver dramatically increased performance of chromatographic resolution and speed. Sample throughput can often be increased compared to conventional HPLC, making Microflow LC systems ideal for high throughput applications in drug discovery and development.

In this presentation we will discuss a review of the current status of UHPLC, several of the inherent advantages of Microflow-LC mentioned above, in addition to the substantial lower frictional heating that allows for better temperature control of the column and the faster mixing at lower flow rates resulting in improved gradient accuracy for fast gradients. This presentation demonstrates achieving fast, high resolution separations using Microflow-UHPLC. One of the examples given is Microflow-UHPLC for the separation of drug-like compounds, showing increased UV sensitivity, while significantly reducing solvent consumption and waste vs. traditional UHPLC.
